CABS MEETINGS: 2nd MONDAY of each
month.
Sunday, Sept. 5:
Blues for Dystrophy at The Green Door Blues Bar. This
is the 21st annual Blues for Dystrophy fundraiser featuring bands
from the Capital City Area. Proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy
Association. Smooth Daddy, Frog and the Beeftone’s, Stan
Budzynski, Charley Horse, Those Delta Rhythm Kings, Gran Scam, Bad
Gravy and possibly more. The Green Door Blues Bar, 2005 E. Michigan
Ave., Lansing, MI.
The Exchange Lansing, 313 E
Michigan Ave, Lansing is bringing back "Sing with the Band"
Skoryoke: 9/9/10-9/30/10. This is an open microphone
experience where you get to sing with a live band!
There will be 3
preliminary contest rounds on Thursdays: 9/9, 9/16, &
9/23. We'll have room for only 4 singers each night.
The finals will be on Thursday 9/30. The preliminary winners
receive an Exchange Gift Certificate and the final winner will
receive a cash prize.

COMING EVENTS AND
FESTIVALS: September 2nd to SEPTEMBER 26th, 2010
Saturday, September 4 and
Sunday, September 5, 2010. The Marquette Area Blues Festival will
be held at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette Michigan over
Labor Day Weekend. Featured performers on Saturday include Greg
Nagy, Chick Willis and Teeny Tucker.
On Sunday, featured
performers are the Flat Broke Blues Band, Moreland and Arbuckle,
Candye Kane and Ronnie Baker Brooks. The music begins both
days at 1pm with gates opening at noon.

KVBA BLUES
COMPETITION
September 26, 2010 The
Kalamazoo Valley Blues Association is hosting its 12th annual blues
competition on Sunday, September 26th at the 411 Club. The
winner of this competition will represent Kalamazoo at the
International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee on February 2nd
– 5th.
The KVBA will be using the
same scoring criteria as is used in Memphis. In order to be
eligible for the local competition, applications must be received
no later than September 12th. This competition will be
limited to the first eight bands that submit their
paperwork.
