2007 Blues Brawl Winner

Hands Down was the winner of the 5th Annual Capital Area Blues
Society’s Blues Brawl on Sunday, May 20, at the Green Door Blues
Bar. The Jackson-based band will head to Memphis, Tennessee in
February 2008 as the Capital Area Blues Society entry in the
International Blues Challenge (IBC). They will compete against over
one hundred and fifty other amateur and semi-professional blues
acts from around the globe.
Their original set with strong vocals
and arrangements put the band in the top spot over eleven competing
bands. 6 Hands Down will headline the Old Town Blues Festival in
September, 2007 and receive more than $1000 in cash and
prizes.

Blues On The Square
Anthony Gomes (1970) is a blues and
blues-rock guitarist and singer originally from Toronto Canada. He
began touring the United States and Canada after his 1997 debut
album, "Blues in Technicolor" and has since recorded two more
albums. Anthony Gomes currently resides in Chicago and fuses his
blues with rock, soul, powerful vocals, and energetic live
performances. He has been characterized as one of the greatest
guitar players on earth and possible future Grammy-winner.
